Man's Best Friend

Hubby had surgery on his hand yesterday morning. The surgeon let him come home later in the day - but he was still pretty well "under" so I had quite an interesting time getting him home and settled in his recliner, with arm elevated. (This guy is a big man!) Immediately, his little "care giver"CupCake jumped up on his lap and would not leave him for the rest of the evening. She even slept curled up next to him all night. These little "people doggies" truly are "man's best friend" - always there when you need them! One of God's gifts to humanity!

One thing checked off on hubby's "Bucket List"

Hubby is a retired pilot, but has not flown a plane in a long, long time. For Christmas that's all he wanted - to go up and practice "touch and go" landings. Well, last Saturday morning it finally happened. Here is one happy hubby!

The landings went perfectly - next on his list is to fly the acrobatic plane they have at the Asheville Airport - oh dear! I wonder what other potential "widow maker" is on that list!

$315.00 Greeting

Should you knock on our door, you're most likely to be greeted by a nine pound puff ball called Cup Cake or "C" "C" for short. Well, last night that greeting got a little out of hand and in her jumping up and down with excitement to greet some friends, she injured her right rear leg. She seemed to be in a lot of pain, and her "Daddy" didn't think she could wait until morning ... so at 2:00 a.m. we made a trip to the 24 hour animal emergency center. After x-rays under anesthetic, it turned out to be a soft tissue injury, but no broken bones or torn tendons.
End result - Doctors orders - no jumping up on or down off furniture, no going up and down stairs, outdoors only if on a close leash, medication every day and a $315.00 Vet bill. She's spent the day on the couch being fed by hand - "Chicken of course" and getting lots of sympathetic hugs and kisses.
But, she is our special little girl, so we're just happy her injury wasn't more serious and we've been reading this book on how to make our doggie smile when we have to give her that old yucky tasting medicine!
